National finals Slovenia
Rogaška Slatina, the European City of Sport 2026, proudly hosted the National Finals of the Plazma Sports Games of Youth, bringing together more than 1,300 children and young athletes from every region of Slovenia.
Throughout the event, participants competed for the titles of national champions and the opportunity to represent Slovenia at the International Finals in Split. Competitions included Coca-Cola Cup, Triglav Cup, chess, tennis, and the Telemach Sports Day, featuring athletics and very popular dodgeball tournament.
The entire city embraced the spirit of sport, friendship, fair play, and community. Alongside the competitions, a variety of activities created a vibrant festival atmosphere for young athletes, their coaches, families, and visitors.
Opening the National Finals, Mayor Branko Kidrič welcomed all participants and highlighted the important role sport plays in educating and inspiring young generations. He expressed his pride that Rogaška Slatina hosted one of Slovenia’s largest youth sporting events, emphasizing that sport builds friendships, connects people, and promotes a healthy lifestyle.
One of the highlights of the event was the Coca-Cola Cup Finals, broadcast live across the region. The national champions in the 2011 age group were NK Lesce in the boys’ competition and NK Aluminij in the girls’ competition.
The Telemach Sports Day dodgeball finals were another highlight of the event. The winning teams were Primary School Preserje in the 2017 and younger category, and Primary School Prof. Dr. Josip Plemlj Bled in the 2015 and younger category.
The National Finals continue across additional sports, with the most successful teams and individual athletes earning their place at the International Finals in Split, taking place from 17–22 August.
This year’s Plazma Sports Games of Youth season has been exceptionally successful. More than 200 events were organised across Slovenia, engaging over 70,000 children and young people. The National Finals in Rogaška Slatina marked a fitting conclusion to the Slovenian competition season, once again celebrating the core values that define the Games: friendship, respect, fair play, and equal access to sport for every child.
